Our roots are in creative design, and we’re happiest serving up impactful original clothing that’s printed in house to customers on our online store and at our storefront in downtown Holyoke. Business owner Carlos Peña learned to screen print when he began creating graphic artwork for artists and events as a college student. Inspired by the visible nature of printing onto clothes, much of his art has focused around celebrating culture and raising awareness for social justice causes.

Art for us by us: Engaging with youth in Holyoke and surrounding communities

Since starting Paper City Clothing Company Carlos and collaborators have offered free design and screen printing workshops to youth as a means to spark their creativity and inspire them to think critically about power and justice in the world. In 2019 we launched a new initiative out of our shop on Dwight Street, Urbana Art Studio. This project takes our community engagement practice to the next level by offering a space for art for us by us in Holyoke including a gallery area, event area, and of course a platform for youth to make and sell their art. Proud recipient of MassDevelopment TDI Creative Catalyst grant to support this project.
