Photos and acknowledgement from the gallery opening night on Friday November 5th 2021
Paper City Clothing Company business owner Carlos Peña welcomed all to the space in Taino: Ta'kahi sindari Mabrika Daka Maguey hahom Taino Ti (Hello and welcome my name is Maguey 'Big Sun' thank you for visiting and I hope that the good great spirit be with you). It truly was an incredible evening celebrating Native people, culture, and how art always plays a part in power and resiliency for communities. We are so grateful to each and every person who joined us for the opening- thank you for taking the time to show up and support.
Thank you to Justin Beatty for his trust in us for partnering as a gallery and community hub for native art. Next, to the five artists Justin invited to show works, Nayana, Hailey-Jade, Anthony, Ella, and Casey: Thank you. We are in awe of your talent, vision, and courage.
Last but not at all least, very special acknowledgement to our food and beverage sponsors for the evening. Thanks to you it felt like a party, and you helped us harness almost $400 in donations from attendees grateful for the delicious refreshments you provided during the event:
~Thanks to Valley Malt for making the event sparkle even more by donating delicious local brews (made with their world class local malt!), which business owner Andrea Stanley and team member Isis Feliciano personally poured for attendees in our outdoor patio area throughout the evening.
~Thanks to indigenous chef Neftalí Duran for cooking such unforgettable tacos and lentil soup for the event, and to the dynamic duo of tireless servers Kara Nye and Thurman Bluejacket Bear. Thank you so much for sharing your tasty talents and generosity serving attendees throughout the evening!
