More about past community events

During the summer, we've explored two approaches:

  • Give-aways at farmers markets and free community events: Our staff sews the envelopes for door draft stoppers using 100% reclaimed textile waste, and tables at local events to give these to attendees together with instructions on how they may stuff them at home. Folks often don't know what to do with torn or stained clothing and fabric, and this option becomes the perfect solution!

  • Craft workshops: Our staff shares the pattern for sewing the door draft stopper from start to finish, and guides participants in how to stuff the envelope so they walk out with a functional door stopper they made from scratch. This approach has been possible thanks to a partnership with Swanson Fabrics Stash House in Turners Falls MA, located in a neighboring county that is also an Environmental Justice community like Holyoke.
